U.S.eh?

I am an American.

Don't looks surprised. Yes I live in Canada, I was born in Canada, my home is Canada. I am American.

So are Mexicans. So are Brazilians. Everyone in North and South America are Americans. That is what it means.

Just because people from the USA have "America" in their country name does not mean they get the right to exclusively use that name. Maybe they should have thought ahead when they made their name. Or perhaps we should go Dutch on them and give them a completely different name, like "Statezer" or "Gunners" or "People-who-elect-greedy-leaders-who-do-not-care about-their-own-peoplers". (Maybe a bit too long.)

Don't get me wrong. I have no problems with the States. Great people. Just stop taking things that arn't yours!

Father's Day Weekend

After 8 years, I sold the car.

It used to be my grandmother's car. Then my mother took it off her hands for a short while. I ended up with it shortly thereafter. I used it to work my SSR job in SWO. The lack of a cup holder forced me to learn how to multi-task drinking, eating, updating the RIM and driving at high speeds quite well. Had a lot of fun with and in that car. Whether it was driving to Ottawa for a weekend getaway to driving home in the middle of the night with my drunk and frisky girlfriend at the time doing what I think now are crazy things to do at high speed.

I knew every bit of that car. Every rust spot. How to hold the clutch. Every ding had a history to it... and now it is gone. Going to be frankensteined by a guy named Aman with another accord. He will never love it as much as I did.

I was dissapointed with only getting $600 for it but my father reminded me that it was not really worth that much due to how it was 19 years old (almost a classic!) I guess it is time to start making new memories...

What can I do with a CRV? ;)

Friends definitions

I find that people like to be able to put everything into little boxes. They don't even need to be physical boxes but terms as well. "Is that red or orange?" Things don't really fit into those all the time but lets see what we can do about friends;

Friendly - to be like a friend for a short time.
budget < 2.00 (no more than 2 dollars or whatever loose change you have in your pocket)

Friends - to enjoy common things or events with another person
budget < 5.00 (can loan them out 5 dollars but expect it back next interaction)

Good Friends - people you can just hang out with at just about any time. Will be there if you need someone to talk to about almost anything
budget < 20.00 (pay for each other's meals randomly)

Best Friends - people who will be there through thick and thin. Can count on them and trust them with anything. Trust them with your lives
budget < 50.00 (buy random things for each other just because you think they might like it or for fun)

Best Friends Forever - Basically a brother or sister you actually decided to have. Trust level extremely high. Always got your back and would risk their lives if you were in danger.
budget < lots (hard to say, if one friend is having a good year and other is not, can even do long term "loan")

I had a personal failure this week;

1) I put someone else's desires above my own (thanks to growing up catholic)
2) I accepted being the second banana for a time (thanks to my father)
3) I seeked approval (thanks to my mother)
4) I wanted to make everyone happy (thanks to my old friends)
All of this combined make me hurt for three days.

I have learned, adapted, and the next time I am tested, I will be ready.

It is also time to drop some "friends" who are taking too much and giving nothing in return.
